We've been running the same family ministry plays - Sunday school + youth group - for 75 years with steadily declining results: Today, nearly 2/3 of church kids leave the faith after graduating from high school. 

BUT over 80% of kids whose parents talk about and practice faith at home go on to follow Jesus as adults. 

Parents - not programs - are the key to faith formation in children. Family Ministries whose structures include an equal or greater emphasis on equipping parents have the opportunity to multiply their Kingdom impact for generations to come.

In many churches, Family / NextGen Ministry operates in something of a vacuum, separate from the church’s broader vision for making disciples. Specialized staff and leaders set the vision and drive the programming, which is often disconnected from adult discipleship initiatives.

But churches that see the formation of children and families as one subset of a larger goal - making lifelong disciples of Jesus - create an alignment and synergy that bears fruit.

Instead of siloed programs, the whole church works together toward a common vision, with discipleship happening naturally - and inter-connectedly - at every stage of life.
